It all started in 2016 with Bridgit, as a criminology master’s student, and Derryl, a licensed architect, having casual yet brilliant conversations about how their two fields could join forces. These chats didn’t just spark some “aha!” moments, they laid the foundation for Tandem!
And here’s an added advantage: our team includes two certified Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) specialists. Translation? We evaluate not just what people see (hello, lighting, and way-finding signage!) but how they feel in your space. By focusing on natural surveillance, clear lines of sight, and territorial reinforcement, we make your environment as secure as Fort Knox and twice as welcoming.

Say hello to the Tandem team, a dynamic duo combining expertise in criminology and architecture with a shared mission to make spaces safer (and yes, way more awesome). On one side, we have our principal consultant, a seasoned pro with over 20 years of experience in criminology and forensic psychology. On the other side, there’s our licensed architect, a visionary with 30+ years of experience designing spaces that are as functional as they are fabulous. Together, they’re the ultimate tag team, blending brains and blueprints to create environments that are safe, smart, and ready to take on the world.
The Criminal Mastermind
Bridgit C Didier, PhD, CPP
Bridgit is not your average safety expert. With over 20 years studying criminal behavior (yes, she’s read all the case studies) and more than a decade as a principal leader at Didier Architecture, she’s mastered the art of merging functional design with research-backed strategies to create secure spaces, think “design meets detective work.” Her academic CV is as impressive as her knack for making complex concepts digestible. Bridgit holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, a Master of Science in Criminology, a Master of Philosophy in Forensic Psychology, and a doctorate in Forensic Psychology. Her research zeroes in on targeted acts of violence in K-12 schools, directly influencing her mission to create safer, more supportive environments. That's not all, Bridgit brings expertise in crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED), violence threat assessment and management, and program and policy development, backed by specialized training in each area. She’s a Certified CPTED Practitioner through Florida Atlantic University and holds a certification in higher education teaching from the Harvard Bok Center for Teaching and Learning. (Yes, she really is that dedicated.) Oh, and did we mention she’s an active member of organizations like the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, the International CPTED Association, and ASIS International? Bridgit is all about staying ahead of the curve. When she’s not balancing academic acumen with leadership savvy, Bridgit uses her insider knowledge of criminal behavior to create environments that feel secure and welcoming, a tricky tightrope to walk. Whether she’s strategizing safer spaces, designing policies, or explaining safety concepts with a well-timed pun, Bridgit is proof that expertise and personality go hand in hand.
The Architectural Savant
Derryl Didier, AIA, NCARB, CPP
Derryl is a seasoned pro with over 30 years of experience and an eye sharper than a freshly drafted blueprint. By day, he’s a problem-solving powerhouse who wears many hats (and probably a hard hat, too). He takes projects from napkin sketches to ribbon cuttings, ensuring every detail is top-notch along the way. Specializing in building envelope forensics (think CSI, but for buildings), his passion for preserving the integrity of structures while spotting and fixing their weak spots is unmatched. From designing state-of-the-art commercial buildings to revitalizing vibrant mixed-use developments, Derryl's expertise spans the full spectrum of architecture and beyond. His diverse portfolio includes educational institutions, retail spaces, restaurants, municipal buildings, and comprehensive site and master planning. But Derryl’s talents extend far beyond design. He excels in building code and ADA accessibility analysis, feasibility studies, and cost estimation. In short, if it’s part of a building's lifecycle, Derryl has the knowledge and experience to bring it to life seamlessly. With his participatory design approach and hands-on leadership style, Derryl is the go-to guy for projects that demand creativity, precision, and reliability. He’s driven by a love for collaboration, working closely with clients, contractors, and anyone else willing to talk shop about architecture. The result? Gorgeous, functional spaces, every single time. Want credentials? Derryl’s got plenty. He's a Licensed Architect in several states. Plus, he holds a Certified CPTED Practitioner (CPP) designation from Florida Atlantic University’s School of Architecture, reflecting his cutting-edge expertise in designing spaces that are as safe as they are stylish.
